Prior to creating his company, Jesse managed over $1B investments in the public sector for affordable housing (including the first LGBT senior housing development in Florida), built over 5,000 units representing over $2B in mixed income housing and master development projects as a private sector real estate developer, and managed multi-million dollar grantmaking portfolios (ranging from $10M to over $200M), including program related investments (PRIs) with various global foundations for urban redevelopment, affordable housing, place-making, activating intergenerational public spaces, racial equity, Opportunity Zones, k-12 education, community organizing, LGBTQ+ issues, and Native American economic development and housing (on and off Tribal Lands).
Jesse received his master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and his bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley where he conducted research on the spread of HIV in communities of color and helped organize the first conference on the prison industrial complex.
Jesse studied international economics abroad in Spain for one full academic year and in Cuba for a summer conducting research on HIV prevention strategies. He completed a two-year postgraduate CUREx fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania (UPENN) in urban redevelopment. Jesse is a native English and Spanish speaker and fluent in Portuguese with over 30 years of experience working on issues of substance abuse/recovery and issues impacting LGBTQ+ communities of color.
